Dorathy's Story
After the loss of my husband, I was devastated. The sadness was like nothing I had ever experienced. I knew firsthand what it felt like to have your Heart BROKEN. The roller coaster of emotions was unbearable. Family and friends offered well-meaning advice and suggestions. They wanted to “take away” my pain.
Joining the Support Group was enlightening. Sue’s knowledge, experience, and compassion created a safe place for sharing. She frequently reminded us how necessary it is to go through the door and take the journey. It’s your own personal journey. It is not to be hurried. No timeline needs to be set. There is simply no way to “take away” the pain.
Hearing the stories from the others in the group was heartbreaking but also consoling. Having gone through this shared experience connected us in a way nothing else could. It gave us permission to be open and honest about our feelings.
As I continue along my journey, I am confident that the sadness will continue to soften, the tears will come less often and happy memories will fill the empty places within my heart… and so the HEALING begins
Gail's Story
I lost my adult daughter in 2020. It has been a very hard loss to process. When I joined the grief support group, I was able to share the loss and understand that my grief journey is an individual experience. I have been able to allow myself grace to take whatever time I need to feel and express my grief, which has helped remove the pressure to hurry up and move on.
Sue Hall has a great way of sharing information about the grief journey and helping to celebrate each person's loved one's life. The materials Sue shares are a great compliment to the discussions that are part of each week's group. I plan on going through the group another time!
